بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

AsSalaam Alaikum

The month of Ramadan, the month of fasting is upon us.  This month, wherein from dawn to sunset, we, Muslims, fast from food, drink, and other worldly pleasures.  Let us be mindful of its virtues of Bodily and spiritual purity.  While fasting is mainly to bring us closer to Allah (Almighty G-d), the benefit of our fasting to the society is that it makes us more aware, conscious of the need to help those who are less fortunate than we are.

So, what Muslims in American and throughout the world will be focusing on during Ramadan, the month of fasting is returning to our original nature and original excellence that’s seen in all human life when it comes from the mother.  All human life comes into the world upon a disposition of compassion, love, purity, truthfulness, caring for others, responding to the needs of others and free of criminal and inhuman behavior and attitudes.  This translates to obedience and mindfulness of the Creator, being conscious of the need to appreciate and respect both our fellow human being and the outer world as the creation of the Almighty.  And being conscious of and serving the needs of the less fortunate, homeless, refugees, the need for peace in our lives and in the world, social justice, liberty and equality, reducing and eliminating violence and abuse of all types and working for the betterment of mankind in society.
