Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque served as an organizer and sponsor of the first National Muslim Advocacy Day. On this day 280 participants from around the nation visited elected officials to urge them to support issues that are of high concern for American Muslims. The presented issues included urging Congress to request that the U.S. Department of Justice make amendments to its racial profiling policies; these policies leaves loopholes that allow ethnic and religious discrimination.

Participants also introduced to congressional members a proposed bill from Congressman Andre Carson that would allow for college students to work in after school program using federal work-study hours. This program would provide school aged children a positive outlet and curve adolescent mischief.
The Muslim Advocacy Day was organized by the United States Council of Muslim Organizations and next year it is planned to held for a second time.
