The Nation’s Mosque

The Nation’s Mosque,

Masjid Muhammad, located at 1519 Islamic Way (4thStreet), NW, Washington, DC represents the establishment of the Muslim American community in the Nation’s Capital approximately 76 years ago, in the mid 1930s.

This Mosque was the first Mosque in the Nation built from the ground up by indigenous American citizens, specifically African Americans under the leadership of the Nation of Islam led by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad (raa). It was built upon a “national” platform as part of a “national” community, a “national” movement, and a “national” aspiration for freedom, Justice and Equality.

Masjid Muhammad, the Nation’s Mosque, is produced out of the American experience.
