Beliefs of Islam
The religion of Islam is a religion founded upon the belief of one and only G-d and the submission to the peace of G-d referred to in the Arabic language as Allah. We believe that Muhammad is the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah. The Quran is the holy book of Muslims and was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. Further explanations of the basic beliefs and practices of Islam are listed below.

Basic Duties of Islam
Islam has five basic duties which Muslims must perform. These duties are known as the Five Pillars of Islam.
The Five Pillars of Islam
Shahadah – Declaration of Faith
Salat – Five daily prayers
Zakat – To give in charity
Hajj – To complete the pilgrimage to Mecca once in ones lifetime
Sawm- To fast for the month of Ramadan
Shahadah
Shahadah is the declaration of faith in Islam. A Muslim declares their faith by reciting:
La Ilaha Illal Lah Muhammadur Rasulul Lah. Which means “There is no G-d but Allah (The G-d), Muhammad is the messenger of Allah (The G-d).

Salat
Salat is the second Pillar of Islam it refers to the daily prayers made by Muslims. We offer salat to remember Allah.
The five daily prayers (and the time for the prayers)are:
Fajr (from dawn until just before sunrise)
Thuhr (after mid-day until afternoon)
Asr (from late afternoon until just before sunset)
Maghrib (after sunset until nightfall)
Isha (nightfall until dawn)
