We join those in our nation and around the world in offering our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas. For several decades she was a dynamic servant of the people and one of our giants for social and economic justice. She was the lead sponsor of the legislation to make Juneteenth a federal holiday.

May the excellence of her work, which we all inherit, be continued in the young and old.
