A GOOD YEAR WITH THE DC PUBLIC LIBRARY
November 2013 marked the conclusion in the series of programs that began earlier in the year in a collaboration between the Washington DC Public Library system and Masjid Muhammad, the Nation’s Mosque. Under the leadership of the Resident Imam Talib Shareef, the DC Public Library chose Masjid Muhammad and its congregants to co-present eight programs over eight months in all eight DC Wards from Chevy Chase in Northwest to Deanwood in Northeast. Each library forum offered a different, informal look at Muslim life by ordinary, everyday Muslim residents. The program was sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities in cooperation with the American Library Association
Public Programs Office and Ali Vural Ak Center for Global Islamic Studies, George Mason University. The program was provided by a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Additional support for the arts and media components was provided by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art. Click To Download Iqraa Newsletter
