All eyes are on Rafah and the world watched and reacted with shock and horror on Sunday when Israel bombed a refugee tent camp in Rafah, killing at least 45 and wounding at least 240. Additionally, The New York Times confirmed that the bombs used in the strike were made in and provided to Israel by the United States. And now there are reports that Israel bombed another refugee tent camp in Rafah on Tuesday, killing at least another 21 people.
President Biden had previously said that a ground invasion of Rafah would be a “red line” that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must not cross. We join the major Americans and the world in calling President Biden to enforce that red line, stop providing offensive weapons to Israel, and to establish an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
Yes, Hamas’s deadly attack on innocent civilians and those taken hostage must be condemned, but Israel’s response has been “EXTREMELY” disproportionate and taken an extraordinary civilian toll. The urgent need for a ceasefire grows with every day and every airstrike on the Palestinian people. Our lawmakers must broker peace immediately.
